I am an aspiring public speaker. I know that it sounds strange that an aspiring public speaker wants to be in the news media program, but I have never been accused of taking the conventional approach. I hope to gain the storytelling, audience impact, and presentation skills that will make me a successful public speaker.

I believe that, while my hopes for this program will drive my success in it, that my unique history will be an asset to the News Media program. I have always had a unique perspective on the world due to my experiences in a wheelchair. This gives me the valuable skill of being able to look at issues from different perspectives. A news media student is supposed to be as objective as possible in their reporting, but I define that as being able to tell a story from multiple points of view. This is what makes me uniquely qualified for being a new media student. This will allow me to thrive as a leader in the program. This is why I should be accepted into the program.
